MEDIA Desk UK is heading to the BFI

In a long-awaited announcement on 29 November, the Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries Ed Vaizey mentioned MEDIA Desk UK alongside the Certification Unit as one of the grant-in-aid activities which are transferring to the BFI following the government decision to abolish the UK Film Council.

The minister's decision means that the services provided by the Desk to the UK audiovisual industry will continue. The details and the timescale for the move are still to be worked out through a process of due diligence.

Amanda Nevill, Director of the BFI said: "We are happy to give MEDIA Desk UK a new home. We recognise the valuable role this office plays in supporting British professionals and expanding markets for British films while encouraging the best of European cinema to be enjoyed by the audiences here. MEDIA Desk UK has already been collaborating with the BFI London Film Festival and we look forward to developing that relationship and others in the future."
