Win the chance to see your story on the big screen

Picturehouse Cinemasand the European Commission Representation in the UKhave joined forces to launch a photography competition, Your Story, for which the prize is a nationwide screening of the winning entry, and a Kodak Zi8 pocket HD video camera.

Your Story is open to UK entrants from any age and any background. The challenge is to tell your very own story in just ten photographs. There is no restriction on subject matter - 'your story' could be about anything from daydreams to day jobs.

The Head of Representation at the European Commission Representation in the UK, Jonathan Scheele, celebrated the wide appeal of the competition: "The beauty of Your Story is that is open to the old, the young and everyone in between. Children know no boundaries in their ability to bring imagination into our lives while the perspective of an older person's wisdom is priceless. We look forward to seeing the world through their viewfinders in this truly inspirational project."

The competition was inspired by The First Movie,a film by Mark Cousins. The film is a documentary about screening films in a Kurdish village in Iraq, to audiences who had never before experienced cinema. The First Movie also contains footage shot on hand-held cameras by the local children. Speaking about his role in the Your Story competition, Mark said "I'm delighted that my film inspired the Your Story competition, and as a member of the judging panel I am looking forward to seeing the diversity of stories from across the UK."

How to enter Your Story:

  1. Take ten photographs that tell your story, using any camera
  2. Number the photos from one to ten
  3. Add a one-sentence caption to each photo and give the story a title
