TorinoFilmLab taking applications for two development courses

Torino Film Lab

TorinoFilmLab is receiving applications to two MEDIA-supported training programmes: Script&Pitch, focused on fiction feature film script development, and Writer's Room, a programme for the development of a transmedia project.

Script&Pitch is an advanced script development course for scriptwriters and directors of first and second features from all over the world. The programme is realised in partnership with Le Groupe Ouest, Nisi Masa, BoostHBG and Film i Skåne. The course will take place from March 2012 to November 2012 and comprises three residential workshops, two online sessions and one alumni event.

Script&Pitch will follow the entire scriptwriting process, from generating ideas and structuring the material through first and second drafts, up to a final pitch in front of producers and sales agents who will be invited to the alumni event in November 2012, during the Torino Film Festival. Up to six development awards will be given to selected filmmakers to work on their projects for another year at TorinoFilmLab through the FrameWork program. A special "International Relations ARTE Prize" of €6,000 will also be granted to one of the participating projects.

Script&Pitch is held in parallel with the Writer's Room transmedia workshops, whose participants will interact with the scriptwriters to exchange ideas throughout the course of the programme.

The Writer's Room, realised in collaboration with the UK's Power to the Pixel, focuses on the process of developing a transmedia project within a team framework. The project selected for this year's workshop is Sequence, written and developed by Adam Sigel, which will eventually be presented across multiple platforms including a travelling art installation, a website, mobile phone and social media applications as well as a feature film.

A selected group of participants will work together under the guidance of tutor and story editor Gino Ventriglia and additional trainers with backgrounds in web and game development. Participants will work on the project over ten months, and then present the results of their work at the TorinoFilmLab alumni event.

20 applicants will be selected to participate in Script&Pitch: 16 scriptwriters and four story editors. The Writer's Room is aimed at story architects, games writers, audience engagement designers, writers (script, TV, journalists etc.) and producers who have experience of cross-media production.

The deadline to apply for a place on Script&Pitch is 10 December 2011. Applications for the Writer's Room are being accepted until 30 January 2012.
