18 MEDIA films at the 2012 Berlinale

The official selection of films at this year's Berlin International Film Festival has been announced, and 18 of the titles have received to date a total of over €1 million in support from the MEDIA Programme. Supported films include Bel Ami, directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, which stars Uma Thurman, Robert Pattinson and Kristin Scott Thomas, and received MEDIA Development funding in 2008. The UK's Mark Cousins' epic documentary exploring the history of cinema The Story of Film: An Odyssey, is also screening in Berlin. The project received a MEDIA Development grant back in 2005. James Marsh's new film, Shadow Dancer, starring Clive Owen and Gillian Anderson, is screening In Competition. The film, which is a UK/Irish co-production, received support from MEDIA's i2i Audiovisual and Automatic Distribution schemes. This year marks the 62nd edition of the Berlinale, which will take place in Germany from 9-19 February 2012.
