Filmfest Dresden focuses on short film and has developed into one of the major short film festivals in Germany, and with a total of  €61,000 prize money is amongst the best funded short film festivals in Europe.

The programme includes animation, fiction, documenatry as well as experimental film and is complimented by various events such as panel discussions, workshops and presentations.
