With a growing audience and a competition for European films, the Linz festival provides an attractive platform for European cinema. The programme includes an extended European panorama, tributes and special events as well as hosting artist in residence programmes.

The programme focuses on innovative European films, which reflect current political and social realities of Europe's changing societies.  The festival aims to open up new cinematic territories which are under-represented in everyday movie business.
