The Vilnius International Film Festival, also known as the 'Kino Pavasaris' (Cinema Spring) seeks to present the most interesting and newest independent films from critically acclaimed filmmakers, with a varied programme that includes serious discussions, an educational programme, masterclasses, exhibitions and a special programme to increase the awareness of global warming.

The festival co-operates on an international level with film companies, independent film producers, foreign embassies and film festivals, selecting films which have been screened at the A-list festivals throughout the year.

Each year the festival presents in excess of 100 films in a varied programme which includes:

  • Masters - screening critically acclaimed works of professional filmmakers
  • Brave Vision - a selection of controversial films
  • Discoveries - screening the work of upcoming filmmakers
  • Cinedocs - screening brave and important documentaries
  • Lithuanian Dreams - a selection of works by Lithuanian filmmakers
  • Retrospectives - screening the best of cinema classics
  • New Europe New Names - screening the best of European film.
