MeetMarket Pitching workshops: Cardiff and London

Following the success of the pitching and marketplace workshop in Edinburgh last month, MEDIA Antenna Wales and MEDIA Desk UK have teamed up with Sheffield Doc/Fest to offer 2-day workshops in Cardiff and London.  The workshops will offer insight into the workings and priorities of the international documentary market.

The workshops are an intensive introduction to the MeetMarket pitching initiative, to all marketplace activities at Sheffield Doc/Fest, and to wider opportunities in international documentary pitching and funding.  The workshops offer an exclusive window into the priorities of the international documentary market and the opportunity to learn what UK, European, North-American and other decision makers are looking for right now.  During the workshops participants will work on a one-on-one basis with the Doc/Fest team to develop projects before pitching to UK commissioning editors.

Led by international marketplace specialist Christina Burnett, this is an invaluable opportunity to refine ideas and project presentation skills.  Projects can be at any stage of development.  Last year's workshops led directly to 7 of the 21 UK projects being selected for MeetMarket.  There are also several other opportunities to pitch your project at Sheffield Doc/Fest if you are not in the MeetMarket, and the workshops will help you prepare for all market opportunities at the festival.

Workshop dates:

Cardiff: 15 and 16 June (2-day workshop)

London: 1 and 2 July (2-day workshop)

Places for the workshops are extremely limited. To express an interest, and for more information, please email Marketplace producer Charlie Phillips, stating your name and company (or if you are freelance), along with a one-page pitch for your factual project.

*MeetMarket is based on an original initiative of the Australian Film Commission (AFC) and the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC).
