Applications for FOCAL's Digital Production Challenge workshop have now opened. This three-day workshop will give 45 producers, executive producers and production managers the methods and tools to choose the best digital production workflow for feature film projects and to optimise communications between the various parties involved, from the director to the postproduction provider.

Using case studies, the workshop will compare the most reliable solutions now available in Europe. The second part of the workshop will be devoted to the reviewing of participants' projects. The workshop will give an overview of each stage of a digital production workflow, from shooting a film to copy distribution.

FOCAL is a MEDIA-funded organisation that offers further training opportunities to professionals in the film and audiovisual industries. The seminars, colloquiums and workshops set up in Switzerland and other European countries provide knowledge and skills that can be put into immediate practice. At the same time, these events serve as a platform for questioning conventional work models and methods, and for exchanging ideas away from the pressure of everyday demands.

The Digital Production Challenge workshop will take place in Zurich, Switzerland, from 3-5 December 2009.

The workshop costs €400, including accommodation and meals. Travel is not included.

Applicants must have experience with low and medium-level film budgets (€1 to €3.5 million).
