Apply now for Sources 2 Projects & Process

Applications are open for Sources 2 Projects & Process, a MEDIA-funded training course specifically created for practising scriptwriters, developers, script editors, producers and trainers working as mentors for writers in the field of script and story development who are interested in enhancing their skills and exchanging experiences with international colleagues.

Sources 2 mentors work not only on a one-to-one basis, but also in groups of three to five writers. Each writer is encouraged to respond to the work of the other participants. The mentor's task is to use these responses to encourage each writer to re-evaluate his or her project. The course employs a flexible range of mentoring strategies, taking into account that each writer is unique, each script is unique and that each writer draws inspiration from his or her particular part of Europe's diverse culture.

The training programme will use developing European feature film scripts to explore:

  • Presentation - reading, interpreting and analysing the script presentation
  • Methods for exploring a particular writer's/filmmaker's processes
  • Choosing mentoring strategies and mentoring the writing process
  • Assessment and revision
  • New strategies - developing and enhancing new approaches to mentoring.

The course runs in the following format:

  • Three-day session in Vienna, Austria, 19-23 October 2010: Working in small groups with international colleagues, participants will be guided by experienced advisers and are invited to attend evening lectures and events
  • Three-month period of distance learning
  • Round-off by e-mail: Each participant receives individual advice and a short evaluation by one of the advisers.

Participants should be professional scriptwriters, developers or trainers who would apply the method as advisors, mentors or trainers themselves, as well as benefit personally from such training. They should also be citizens of a European Member State.

The participation fee is €750 per participant. This cost includes the three-day session, three-month coaching period, and the round-off by e-mail, but excludes accommodation, travel and board.
