June 20, 2009 - July 6, 2009, Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius: alive documentaries for professional screening.
Summer Media Studio is an international film workshop for European film students. The workshop has developed a good structure for intensive training: there is a two-week workshop, making up the theoretical part with lectures from high-level professionals. This is followed by the practical part, which consists of filming with international crews. The workshop gives an opportunity for students to improve their professional and personal skills across many different areas.
Each year, students explore different filmmaking topics, from conceptual to practical. This year the topic is: Vilnius: alive documentaries for professional screening. The task for the participants will be to observe the city and find documentary ideas, then to create 10 short films following their attendance at intensive seminars.
The team of international trainers-consultants includes: Witold Starecki (UK), Audrius Stonys (Lithuania), Lubomir Halatchev (Bulgaria), Anne Levy-Morelle (Belgium), Anitta Pankkonen (Finland) and Bartek Konopka (Poland).
The trainers-consultants will lead the preparation period, the script-writing and the film shoot. They will also prepare the individual theoretical lectures and additionally teach the students how to merge the final documentaries into a single film for a wider audience.
