Film Restoration Summer School 2010

The project's main objective is to teach and update participants on restoring, reconstructing and preserving a film using new digital technology and on the way in which analogue systems and new digital technologies can coexist.
Following the Film Restoration Summer School, participants are expected to:
- Be able to operate all digital and analogue equipment in an archive and restoration laboratory;
- follow a complete restoration process;
- perform all the main operations needed to restore a film;
- evaluate the state of restoration of a film;
- decide on the best practice for restoring, reconstructing and preserving it, as well as to have it translated from a film support to broadcasting and DVD support.

Theory lessons on film restoration (distance learning): 18 May to 22 June 2010
Introduction and attendance at Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival, Bologna: 26 June to 3 July 2010
Restoration practice, Bologna: 5 to 16 July 2010
